Description
Located at the southeast corner of Norbulingka, Lhasa, it is the first modern museum in Tibet. The Tibet Museum was officially inaugurated in October of 1999, with a permanent collection that celebrates the History of Tibetan Culture. The design of the exhibition hall of the museum is the traditional Tibetan architecture style like Tibetan doors, beam-decoration, patterns and so on, aiming to create an atmosphere of authentic Tibetan art. Hence, the museum made a perfect combination of the demonstration of Tibetan culture and the reflection of a salient feature of modern architectural art.

There a large number of cultural relics in various kinds, like the  pre-history handwritten Tibetan classics, colorful Thangka paintings, music instruments, unique Tibetan handicrafts and pottery. You can see the long-standing Tibetan history and deep and vast Tibetan culture from these exhibitions.

There is a performance area for modern cultural and physical activities, a garden of local customs and folk culture and manor houses outside of the Museum. And also, the museum has a culture gallery, handicraft shop and other service facilities, aiming to provide the best service for visitors; it is a really good place for people to relax while visiting the exhibition.
